Our narrator is Kathy, and she&#8217;s relates her life in a series of vignettes over several months, taking place in a very real timeline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reading more about the novel afterwards, I learnt that Laing is borrowing heavily from both her own life and that of a real artist who died in 1997. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I missed all those parallels, and find that writing this a few months later, little of it has stayed with me. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Note: I&#8217;m a little behind on some of my book reviews, so there here follows a big batch all at once!
