{"id":606,"date":"2004-03-16T14:28:46","date_gmt":"2004-03-16T14:28:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dev.adambowie.com\/2004\/03\/the_same_letter\/"},"modified":"2004-03-16T14:28:46","modified_gmt":"2004-03-16T14:28:46","slug":"the_same_letter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.adambowie.com\/blog\/2004\/03\/the_same_letter\/","title":{"rendered":"The Same Letter Over and Over"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;d think that if I was someone reasonably senior in an organisation, and were going to send a letter for publication in a trade magazine, that I might check to see if they were willing to publish it.<br \/>\nSo if, for example, I worked for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.identica.com\">Identica<\/a>, and wanted to comment on the <a href=\"http:\/\/dev.adambowie.com\/weblog\/archive\/000661.html\">Dasani tap water fiasco<\/a>, I probably wouldn&#8217;t send the same letter to both <i>Marketing<\/i> and <i>Marketing Week<\/i>.  Because should they both publish the letter (as they did last Thursday) and the wording was identical, then I might look a fool.<br \/>\nBut I&#8217;d feel even more stupid if I sent that same letter to <i>FT Creative Business<\/i> and they too published it the following Tuesday&#8230; as they did today.<br \/>\nNow I don&#8217;t know what went wrong here, but Mr Peters, the chairman of Identica, has certainly made his views known. And I&#8217;d have thought that the letters editor of Creative Business might have checked last Thursday&#8217;s trade press before choosing this particular letter to publish.
