{"id":275,"date":"2003-04-24T23:17:58","date_gmt":"2003-04-24T23:17:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dev.adambowie.com\/2003\/04\/sugar\/"},"modified":"2003-04-24T23:17:58","modified_gmt":"2003-04-24T23:17:58","slug":"sugar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.adambowie.com\/blog\/2003\/04\/sugar\/","title":{"rendered":"Sugar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well I used a tablespoon and a half of it today in my (very successful) first attempt at breadmaking, but I need to ensure that I don&#8217;t let sugar exceed 10% of my diet according to a new <a href=\"ftp:\/\/ftp.fao.org\/es\/esn\/nutrition\/diet_prevention_disease.pdf\">report<\/a> published jointly by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.who.int\/en\/\">WHO<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fao.org\">FAO<\/a>.<br \/>\nThis report has incensed the US sugar industry and a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/international\/story\/0,3604,940287,00.html\">report<\/a> earlier this week in The Guardian suggested that &#8220;Big Sugar&#8221; (the world&#8217;s new badboys it seems) were threatening to scupper the WHO by persuading America (lots of electoral money in sugar &#8211; particularly in places like Florida) to withdraw its annual $406m funding.<br \/>\nOf course this comes at precisely the time when the WHO is working hard to minimise the effects of SARS which is currently causing the world (and the <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/1\/hi\/world\/americas\/2973803.stm \">mayor of Toronto<\/a>) extreme consternation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Well I used a tablespoon and a half of it today in my (very successful) first attempt at breadmaking, but I need to ensure that I don&#8217;t let sugar exceed 10% of my diet according to a new report published jointly by the WHO and the FAO.
