{"id":2107,"date":"2007-10-31T18:06:31","date_gmt":"2007-10-31T18:06:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dev.adambowie.com\/2007\/10\/bladerunner\/"},"modified":"2007-10-31T18:06:31","modified_gmt":"2007-10-31T18:06:31","slug":"bladerunner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.adambowie.com\/blog\/2007\/10\/bladerunner\/","title":{"rendered":"Bladerunner"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m really looking forward to <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Blade_Runner\">Bladerunner: The Final Cut<\/a>, essentially a big DVD boxset that&#8217;ll be the final version of Bladerunner, a classic SF film that&#8217;s definitely up amongst my favourites, but which has a troubled version history.<br \/>\nBut it&#8217;s a little disingenuous, for Ridley Scott to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2007\/SHOWBIZ\/Movies\/10\/25\/bladerunner.scott\/?iref=mpstoryview\">claim<\/a> to claim that he has an aversion to remakes.<br \/>\nI&#8217;m a massive Ridley Scott fan, and despite the horror that was <a href=\"http:\/\/dev.adambowie.com\/weblog\/archive\/001739.html\">A Good Year<\/a>, it&#8217;s great to see him back on form  with <a href=\"http:\/\/dev.adambowie.com\/weblog\/archive\/002240.html\">American Gangster<\/a>, but he was clear when there was a director&#8217;s cut of <a href=\"http:\/\/dev.adambowie.com\/weblog\/archive\/001255.html\">Kingdom of Heaven<\/a>, that it was done for marketing purposes (Note: Wikipedia <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ridley_Scott#Gladiator_and_beyond\">refers<\/a> to a Total Film interview about the extended DVD being made as a result of paying too much attention to preview audiences, but I distinctly recall Scott claiming marketing reasons being behind the release in a TV interview. This was around the time, for example, that Oliver Stone&#8217;s Alexander was being released in numerous versions. Unfortunately, I have no source for this).<br \/>\nAnyway, roll on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/Blade-Runner-5-Disc-Ultimate-Collectors\/dp\/B000VPP84W\">3 December release<\/a>, and hopefully I&#8217;ll be able to see it in the cinema too.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m really looking forward to Bladerunner: The Final Cut, essentially a big DVD boxset that&#8217;ll be the final version of Bladerunner, a classic SF film that&#8217;s definitely up amongst my favourites, but which has a troubled version history.
